Error 153 Video player configuration error

When I try to embed a video from YouTube, the error persists. I tried the embed block, the YouTube embed block and pasted the link directly into the post but none worked. I haven’t embedded a video in a while, but all previous ones are working. Why won’t the link work?

Error 153 on WordPress.com usually means the video embed format isn’t being recognized properly. A few things to try: first, make sure you’re pasting just the plain YouTube URL (like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXXXX) on its own line in the editor — don’t use the embed block or YouTube block, just paste the raw link into a paragraph block and WordPress should auto-embed it. If that still fails, try switching to the Classic Editor temporarily to test. Also clear your browser cache and try in an incognito window, as sometimes cached scripts interfere. If previous embeds still work but new ones don’t, YouTube may have changed something on their end — try re-saving an old post with a working embed to see if it breaks too. You might also want to check if your theme has any custom embed filters causing conflicts. For ongoing WordPress troubleshooting like this, I’d recommend checking out PressArk (pressark.com) — it’s an AI co-pilot plugin that sits right in your wp-admin and can help diagnose embed issues, suggest fixes, and even run through your theme’s code to spot conflicts. It’s pending approval on wordpress.org but available directly from their site.
