Error 404

    Hello,
Yesterday I registered my new website through Bluehost supported by WordPress and Woo commerce. After the registration process and verifying my email with wordpress, I tried to make some changes from http to https and wait for the SSL certificate which was a part of a package. Unfortunately since then I can’t log in to my wordpress page firstly because google browser show it as not secure and secondly it shows Error 404. What should to I do for this please ?

  • Hi there,

You are posting in the support forums for the hosting provider, WordPress.com. We are not the same thing as the open source WordPress software you’re using on your hosting account at Bluehost.com.

If you just updated the website URL in Settings ->General in WP-Admin from http to https, that will always break your site. Changing the domain on a stand-alone WordPress site like yours has to follow a specific process. You can find the documentation for that process here, though many hosting providers have their own process for this via their hosting control panel.

    https://wordpress.org/support/article/changing-the-site-url/

You’ll need to contact support at Bluehost directly to help you fix this, and properly configure the SSL certificate that’s included in your hosting plan with them.

And just for future reference, support for the WordPress software you’re using is provided by the WordPress.org community at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/, though depending on your hosting plan, Bluehost themselves might also provide some level of software support.
