Hi jimohfarouq,
I think you figured out this problem but for the benefit of anyone else reading, there seems to be two ways of using a domain you already own and which was purchased outside of WordPress.com:
1/ Map it: The way to go if you want a professional looking site. This will redirect traffic from your own domain name – registered somewhere else to your *.wordpress.com address. This works for both second level domains (example.com) and second level (subdomains such as blog.example.com). For detailed instructions on mapping, see here:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/
2/ Domain forwarding: Way less elegant and more of a dirty hack. This process involves you forwarding the domain name from your current domain registration provider to your *.wordpress.com address. So, if your domain name is with Godaddy, you must log into your Godaddy account and figure out where you can forward your domain name to another URL. The caveat of doing this is that your *.wordpress.com address can be visible anytime after the user clicks away from the home page if your domain provider does not support “domain masking”.
Cheers,
