Error 500
-
Hi, the website I am working on is an old one and I do not have any of the original documentation as it has been passed down in my organization from year to year. Right now, I have been locked out of it with an error 500 on both the login site and the actual site. So I cannot access it to attempt to fix the errors. Additionally, the wordpress login site does not recognize my login credentials as existing. Obviously, this is an issue because I cannot access my site whatsoever to attempt to fix what is wrong. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? Thanks a million if you can.

That is a wordpress.ORG software install error.
That site is not on our WordPress.COM servers. You are posting to the wrong support forum.
WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
This is wordpress.COM support. We provide support only for wordpress.COM hosted sites. Our support docs do not apply to
(1) local installs of wordpress.ORG software on your own server or
(2) wordpress.ORG software installs on paid hosting, and we do not provide support for them at wordpress.COM.
(3) sites linked to wordpress.COM accounts with the Jetpack plugin so they display on the My Sites wordpress.com account page.wordpress.org support
The wordpress.ORG support forum is at http://wordpress.org/support. The wordpress.ORG login link is here https://login.wordpress.org/ If you do not have an account yet then click Create an account https://login.wordpress.org/register/ and if you have lost an account password click Lost password? https://login.wordpress.org/lostpassword/Jetpack support
Some Jetpack solutions are here http://jetpack.com/support/
Others are in the Jetpack support forum at WordPress.org
http://wordpress.org/support/plugin/jetpack
However, if help cannot be found at either one then they can file a Jetpack support ticket here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/?jetpack=needs-serviceWordPress.org support docs are at https://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page

Hi timethief,
Thank you for your response. Unfortunately, that is the issue. I’m pretty sure that my site is hosted as a wordpress.com and not a .org. I completely understand the distinction. While I do not know the origins of my site, when I had it running I checked to see if it was a .com or a .org and afterward, I have tried to run an ftp server. If it were a .org site, the ftp would work. The ftp does not work, and thus I am lead to believe I have a .com site, thus my problem.

You haven’t provided the URL to the site you need help with and without that we cannot give you an accurate answer.
However, given past experience, the people reporting Error 500 in this forum have all had ORG sites.

So that is my URL. As I said earlier, I inherited the website and so am unsure exactly what I have got on my hands. I was lead to believe it was a .com site. Although if what you are saying is true, then I will have to pursue other methods. If you can figure this out though, I would be most appreciative.
Thanks!

Thanks for the link. Looking at Google’s cache of the site from May 11, it was running the ORG software. You’ll want to head over to the ORG forums for further help.
Best wishes for a quick resolution to the problem.
