Error 500 caused when accessing wp-admin after activating Jetpack

Installed the latest version of Jetpack, only to activate it; halfway through linking to my wp account, the admin panel gives an Error 500. The rest of the site is fully functional. Trying to access via /wp-admin and FTP gives consistent errors in logging in, which scares me since I know I’m inputting credentials correctly. Any help with this??
I’ve heard deactivating the plugin / all plugins solves the problem, but I have no means of doing it. I’ve removed the link between my wp account and the site and the issue persists.
