Error 500 message when trying to access website.

When I try to access my website, it returns Error 500 message. I contacted tech support at the hosting site and the were unable to resolve it and said I needed to contact WordPress to update my page.

These forums are for sites hosted on WordPress.com. From what you are saying, It appears that you’re using the self-hosted version of WordPress (WordPress.org).

Probably there is an error on one of the main php files such as functions or some of the widgets are in conflict with core files, first you should disable all your plug ins in order to check if your site works back without plug ins, you could do that if you access via FTP, then in the Plugins Section, you could Rename the Carpet to something like _Plugins
