  • Hi there. Were you trying to import posts from another site? Where exactly did you see that error code? Have you tried importing the import file again?

    Hi
I was importing my blog from another site. I received an e.mail from WorldPress telling to contact the support and to mention this code

  • Okay. I’ve tagged this for staff to follow up. Please be patient while waiting for them to respond.

    Hi there,

The file you tried to import is about 48MB, which is too big for the importer to handle. (The maximum file size the importer can handle is about 15MB.) I’ve asked our team to help finish that import for you, to import the rest of the content to your site. It may be next week before they can finish that import — I’ll let you know as soon as I have an update from them about it!

    Hi there,

Our team had a chance to look into this issue today, and we started to import the rest of your content. However, not all of the media files (images) from the other site were correctly imported. If we try to just import that media for you now, we may run into some problems with your image galleries that could be a little tricky to fix.

Would it be ok if we empty all of the content from your site and start the import over from the beginning again? That should make the whole import go more smoothly.

If you created new content on this site that isn’t part of that import file, or if you made changes to the imported content, that content will also be deleted — so if that’s the case, please let me know. If the only content on the site is the content you imported, we will re-import it as part of this process.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns about that!

    Hello,

You have to know that since july 2013 I’m using an hosting site for my photos. So are those photos concerned or not ? If not It’s OK for me.
Do you know how long time it will take ?

    Thanks

I forgot to tell you that I create new contents that are not part of that import file (posts from August 6, 2015)

  • The concern here is that the export file contains information for more images than currently exist in your new media library, which suggests that there may be some images that didn’t import correctly. This isn’t as big a concern if you have downloaded a backup of the image files themselves, but since the export file contains only references to the images and not the actual files, it could be problematic later if you shut down the old site and discover that the new site is missing images after all.

So, at the very least, I would download the uploads directory from the old host to make sure that you have copies of all of your images, as I feel pretty confident that the importer didn’t pull them all in.

Something else we could try is to import the site into a sort of backup blog that will contain nothing but the imported content. This would provide another way of making sure the images are backed up somewhere should you discover problems with the site in the future.

If you’ve added content to the site other than what we imported, then emptying isn’t a good plan.

I think that if you have a backup copy of your all of your images and if the site in its current form looks correct to you, then we’re probably ok, though we should consider importing the content into a new backup site just in case. If you’d like to do that, please create a new site, let us know its address, and we’ll import a fresh copy of the old site into it for posterity.
