Error cropping photos
-
I keep getting an error whenever I upload an image for my website and try to use the cropping feature . I am not a programmer, please give detailed instructions on how to resolve this as it is preventing me from properly editing my page and publishing it to the public

Hi there! Is this happening from your WordPress.com Dashboard?
I occasionally get the same error. I have found that clearing the browser cache and logging back in seems to fix things. You can clear your Browser’s cache by following these steps for each browser.
If you use Google Chrome: https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/32050?co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop&hl=en
If you use Mozilla Firefox: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-clear-firefox-cache
If you use Microsoft Edge: https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/help/10607/microsoft-edge-view-delete-browser-historyIf you use Opera: http://help.opera.com/Windows/12.10/en/cache.html
If you use Safari: https://en.support.wordpress.com/how-to-clear-your-cache-in-safari/If you use Internet Explorer: https://kb.wisc.edu/page.php?id=15141
For more information on common browser related issues and how to fix them you can check out the support page here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/
I hope that helps.

Link? I’m referring to WordPress, where I am editing my page and uploading photos for the banner, background etc.. and I am unable to crop the photo to the size i want. I keep getting error message stating that an error has occured. I’ve read other forum posts related to this but I do not understand what to do as I am not a programmer. They refer to a file named ‘php5-gd’?

Hmmm…since you mentioned a PHP file, I’m wondering if you might be referring to a self-hosted WordPress site that you would have downloaded and installed from WordPress.org. This forum is for help with WordPress.com, a hosted version of WordPress. You can read about the differences between the two here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/.
WordPress.org has its own support forum at https://wordpress.org/support/ where you’ll have better luck getting your issue resolved if your site is indeed self-hosted.
If you can give me the URL of the site you’re working on, I’ll be able to help you distinguish which forum would be better able to help you.

Hi — The URL you posted is a site that’s hosted on Bluehost, which means that it is a self-hosted version of WordPress (aka WordPress.org). It looks like you have Jetpack installed, which allows you to log in through WordPress.com to access your WordPress.org site (It can be confusing, I know).
Since it’s a self-hosted site, you’d have better luck in the WordPress.org forum: https://wordpress.org/support/
I know it’s not a solution, but as a workaround in the meantime, you could crop your images using a tool like GIMP (https://www.gimp.org/) or Pixlr (https://pixlr.com/editor/) prior to uploading.
I hope this helps!
