‘Error establishing a database connect’

I have been working on my website non-stop for days. About an hour ago, I finished a section, updated the website, and then went on a walk.

I have just come back and when logging on, WordPress is saying that ‘Nothing is found’. When I try to log onto the website (www.stanton365.com) i receive a ‘Error establishing a database connection’.
I can also not see any of the plug ins that were uploaded (one of which I know was a back up plug in)

The page was ‘live’ with multiple pages earlier on (just a bit rusty because I’ve only been workington it a week and am very new to the process!)

As a side note, it’s hosted with Hostgator. Is this their issue or a WordPress issue?

Please help as I have NO IDEA what has happened and I’m terrified that hours an hours of work have gone. Please be gentle and I am not very ‘tech savvy’.

As you indicated, your site is not hosted with WordPress.com. It is a site using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) but hosted at HostGator.

Because WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two entirely separate entities, we cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere, so WordPress.com staff can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers.

You can find more information here about the differences between WordPress.org software and WordPress.com: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/

You should reach out to your host for help with this. Since they’re hosting your site’s files and database, they also have access to those items and are the best ones to help you with your issue.

    I hope that helps!
