Error establishing a database connection

I understand there was an update for WordPress that broke some websites they host. My website now gives the message, Error establishing a database connection, and I’m not able to log into it. Any leads?

@my5bs we maintain the sites we host on our servers, and we haven’t run into this issue. If you’re referring to a site you have installed with a different hosting provider, can you check in the forums for self-managed sites?
