‘Error establishing a database connection’ after attempting to restore a backup with wp-plugin: UpDraft

    Hi, I need help. Last week I installed the updraft plugin in an attempt to back up a website. I made two backups; one found in my WordPress account and the other to my google drive account. A few days ago, I attempted to restore my website using the backup in my wp account just to see if it would work. the backup restoration was completed and it seemed all went well. However, I was then given the ‘Error establishing a database connection’ page upon refreshing. I then checked phpMyadmin and it seemed a bunch of the files were not there including my wp-options folder which was empty. I tried to migrate the site to another database and was locked out again. I’m not sure if maybe I incorrectly set up the backup/restoration incorrectly, if this is a backend issue cause I cant get back into my dashboard. I could really do with some advice, and I’d be glad to provide more information needed. cheers.

    What is the URL for your site?

    Please keep in mind these forums are for users that host their sites with WordPress.com. If you host your site with another hosting company, you are using the Open Source version of WordPress. You would be able to get better assistance by heading over to the WordPress.org Support Forums. The link for that is below.

    Ok, I will make my way over to the wordpress.org forums. Do you have any recommendations for what information/files I should present to make the process easier for them?

    I’m not 100% sure as I haven’t dealt with anything too advanced when dealing with databases. Just supply this same information over there. If they are needing anything special besides that, they will let you know.
