Error Establishing Database Connection

  In a span of 24 hours my site went from being fully functional to displaying the ‘error establishing database connection.’

  I really don’t want to go down the rabbit hole of FTPs, html coding, and making backups, and all that nonsense. I’m not savvy enough to take that on nor do I want to run the risk of messing something up so please do not make these recommendations. I’d sooner pay someone to recover my site on my behalf.

  My website landing page functions properly – but then, it’s only a little text and some embed codes so there’s little to go wrong. It’s only when I navigate to other pages that I get the error message – these pages are more elaborate with galleries and plugins and things of that nature so that might be the cause. I can’t log in as a ‘wp-admin’ because I get the same error message and so I actually have no way of editing pages or updating the plugins (or so it would seem). Please help!

  Hey csonnek! Thanks for getting back to me.

  The URL is quintonkappel.com

  The landing page should populate. But when navigating to any other page, the “Error Establishing connection to database” message pops up.

  Your site is not hosted with WordPress.com. It is a site using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) but hosted with HostGator.
