Error from last API Key attempt

  So my stats stopped working, I reinstall the plugin as read on the forums here, and now I am stuck at the api key screen, it gives me the option to get the api key, so i copy and paste it and i get this;

  Error from last API Key attempt:

  server error. requested method wpStats.check_key does not exist.

  using WordPress.com Stats
