Error importing blog posts

  Hi there,

  I attempted to import my other blog to a new one a few weeks ago but it came up with “An unspecified error occured during the import” and hasn’t changed since. Please help, the .xml is under 3mb.

  Thanks @artaims. The new site isn’t on our servers, so it’s a bit trickier to troubleshoot from our end.

  If you weren’t able to get it to work, you might try exporting a smaller chunk of information at a time, then importing each one so you can narrow down the error. Or, it’s possible the new host is just timing out, and importing less stuff at one time would help with that too.

  Hi @supernovia the problem is that it’s frozen, and has been for 3 weeks. It has an ongoing error that it has timed out. All buttons are greyed out. I can’t reset it to even try upload anything.

  As we don’t have access to your site there’s no way for us to check on this, but it sounds like the process might be stalled on your server. In that case you might need to contact your hosting provider so they can look into it.

  Also try asking in the self-hosted WordPress forums, as the users there will know more about common issues with the importer for that version of WordPress and should be able to make some more suggestions on what you can try.
