Error in new Editor

Hi,

When I click “Edit” from any of the pages on my site, so that it goes to the new text editor (“Beep Beep Boop…”) it always comes up with the error at the top of the page reading “An error occurred while loading.
Please refresh the page and try again.”

This has been happening for almost a week now. It sounds very similar to this topic https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/ever-since-this-morning-i-have-not-been-able-to?replies=6

It happens for other users on the site, from multiple machines.

I can go to the old text editor as that works, but it’s easier to click “Edit” straight from the page I want to edit.

Hi Joseph,

Just tried editing a page directly at my end, and it worked fine.

Could this be a temporary issue with your browser? What you should do is try clearing browser’s cache/cookies and if it still doesn’t work, try again via a different browser.

Let us know your findings.

Thanks for your reply.

I have cleared cache and cookies, have opened a private window in Firefox, and have tried on Internet Explorer (which I never use). I have tried on different machines on different networks. It seems to be directly associated with my site.

Judging from previous such threads, it looks like a temporary issue. I’m still tagging this thread for Staff assistance, they’ll be able to directly check your blog and see if the issue can be reproduced.

Hi Joe,

Does this happen even if you’re editing a page you wrote and published yourself, or only when editing a page published by another user on the site?

We’ve had some reports of issues like this when editing other people’s posts and pages, so I just want to clarify if you’re having the same issue or if it’s a broader issue for you.

Hi Rachel,

Thanks for your response.

It is a broader issue, it doesn’t work on any pages, even ones that I have published. The new editor doesn’t work at all. The only way I can edit pages is from https://<site>.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=page, while https://wordpress.com/pages/<site> just does not work.

I just discovered that the new editor does work for posts, but not for pages.

Thanks for those details. It looks like you’re running into a different issue that we’ll need to track down. I reported that issue to our team so we can take a look — I can’t reproduce that issue on other sites yet, so it may take some time before we pinpoint the cause. I’ll let you know as soon as I get an update about it!
