error message and the website is not opening

the website will not open and I get an error message that says Warning! Domain mapping upgrade for this domain not found. Please log in and go to the Domains Upgrades page of your blog to use this domain. I cant find where to go to fix the problem and I cant find a way to contact anyone for help except on this format. I have already posted to a forum twice with no response or answers. can someone help or call me to get this fixed. Mike [phone number redacted by staff]

What is the domain you are trying to open? That error usually appears if you try to open a domain that is pointed to WordPress.com via its name servers or IP address, but there isn’t a domain mapping upgrade for the same domain on our end. I don’t see any domains in your account, so cannot help you any more than that unless you tell me the domain.

Our website address is https://spiritlakeeast.org/ I noticed an earlier feed on the forum that addresses the same error message that I am getting but the feed is closed now and there was no resolution contained in the feed. this was two months ago. It appears that our wordpress address, spiritlakeeast.wordpress.com is as you stated in your response. our website address is being redirected to the wordpress address. do I need to change something to correct an error?I am new to wordpress and the terminology and workings of the system. Let me know if you need anything on this. Thanks for your help

Thank you for the domain.
The situation is as I explained: That domain’s name servers are pointing to WordPress.com, but there is no domain mapping upgrade for that domain in our system.
It looks like there was a mapping upgrade connecting that domain to the site, http://spiritlakeeast.wordpress.com, but that upgrade expired on 4 December. The user who originally owned that upgrade, lolopass03, will need to log into their account and buy a new mapping upgrade from My Site ->Domains. Once they do that the domain should work again.

I did the upgrade to the premium plan but the site still will not come up. Does it take a while to activate? The only upgrades I could find were the plan upgrades, is this the right spot? I could not find anything about mapping upgrades.

I finally found the mapping section after finding someone else’s problem and solution in the forum. However when I try to map the domain, spiritlakeeast.org it does nothing at all when i click the map it button. what am I doing wrong?

You won’t be able to add the mapping. Only the original owner, lolopass03, can add the mapping back at this time. That’s why I said that user will need to log in and purchase the mapping. Other usernames will only be able to map that domain after two weeks.
If lolopass03 is no longer involved with the site, let me know and I can help you add the mapping manually, but you should be aware that lolopass03 also owns the site itself, so if they’re no longer involved it would be best if they transfer ownership of the site to someone who still is.

lolopass03 is no longer involved. this is a homeowners association website and i was given the administrator position. If you could walk me through the process that would be great. is there anyway to pass the ownership to me without her? thanks for the help.

I’ve added the domain mapping to the Premium Plan in your account, so everything should be working again now.
There is no way that we can transfer ownership of the site itself to another username unless the current owner authorises it. As an admin you should be able to do everything that needs to be done on the site, including adding other users, but please note that should you leave the site at any point, only the owner or another admin would be able to add you back.
So please don’t leave the site without adding someone else as an admin, or there would be nothing we could do.
