error message at bottom of page says Facebook URL not configured properly
-
I see this error message all the time but the FB links seem to work just fine and I don’t know how else to configure it. This is the message – “It looks like your Facebook URL is incorrectly configured. Please check it in your widget settings.” I’m also getting a message in the side menu that says, “We cannot load blog data at this time.” I’m not even sure what that is referring to. I do not know html/css well enough to sort through all that myself.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I see this error message all the time
Where do you see it? On your blog? On Facebook? Exactly where do you see it? And,when do you see it (after doing what)?
-
It is at the bottom of my WordPress blog home page. I see it every time I open the page.
-
By homepage do you mean http://wordpress.com?
I’ll tag this thread for Staff assistance. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.
Most of all, please post a screenshot. You can use http://snag.gy/ to share screenshots. Or you can use the WordPress.com guide I linked to and upload it to your Media Library, and return to this thread to provide the file name so Staff can examine it.

No I mean my homepage – accessed from the dashboard. I will try to get a screen shot up.

I also uploaded 2 screenshots to my media library – labeled screenshot 1 referring to the Facebook error and screenshot 2 referring to the notice about blog data being unavailable.

Hey there Lianne!
If you take a look at your Widgets panel here:
https://seasonssongandspirit.wordpress.com/wp-admin/widgets.php
Under Footer Area One, you’ll see an empty Facebook Like Box widget. Please kindly fill in the required spaces or delete it, and the error should go away.
Let me know if you run into problems. Thanks!
-
Thank you so much – Yes – that worked for the Facebook problem. Not sure I understand the other issue though. The other error that says “We cannot load blog data at this time.”
-
Hey!
Just like the Facebook Like Box widget earlier, you missed the part in the Recent Posts widget where you needed to provide a Blog URL.
I went ahead and did that, and your widget is now behaving as it should. :)

Cheers!

You are
- awesome
– thank you so much!!!! Now if you’ll tell me one more thing – where do I go to find the css and html for the home/front page so I can shrink the header area and make other style changes that my theme would allow for. I don’t know anything about CSS but I can find a tutorial perhaps but I wouldn’t know where to look to make the changes.

Thanks for the kind words :)
You can change your blog’s appearance with the Custom Design upgrade that’s bundled with the WordPress.com Premium upgrade you purchased.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/
One of the upgrade’s coolest features is the Theme Customizer, which you can access via Appearance -> Customize in your admin panel:
https://seasonssongandspirit.wordpress.com/wp-admin/customize.php
The Customizer lets you change your blog’s fonts, colors, header and CSS file, amongst other things, and have the ability to preview the changes live. Feel free to change things around until you’ve achieved the final look that you want. :) For more guidance on using the Customizer, click here:
As always, let me know if you need help with this. Good luck!
