error message: Bad Gateway when trying to update plugins

  • Unknown's avatar

I am unable to update most of the plugins on my sites. I keep getting an error message ‘Bad Gateway’ when I attempt to update them. This is really frustrating because I have 10 or 11 plugins that need updating on all three of my sites. These are plugins such as Jetpack, WooCommerce, Elementor, etc.

I called my hosting company’s support line, and they make it sound like it’s the plugins’ fault, not theirs, so they won’t fix it.

    What should I do?

    Jetpack: Yes

    Hi there!

You’ve posted to the free support forums for websites hosted here at WordPress.com. Since your site is not hosted with us, we’re limited in what we can help with and advise. But I can get you pointed in the right direction to get help.

A 502 Bad Gateway error is a server-level error, which is 100% the problem of your hosting provider. It’s a general error that indicates there’s something wrong with your website’s server communication.

They should be able to check their server error logs and pinpoint the problem.

If you still have trouble, please reach out to the WordPress community for guidance:

    I hope that helps!
