Error message – invalid password
-
Hi, I’m trying to log in to my account, I haven’t used it for a little while and as usual have forgotten my password. I’ve re-set the password via the link generated by the email several times and have been meticulous in ensuring that I type the new password in correctly, but every time it comes up with the same error message “Invalid username” Help please! ( I thought I was contacting “support” here…)
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello there,
That’s NOT a free hosted WordPress.COM blog and we do not provide support for it here. You are posting to the wrong support forum.
WordPress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate, have different log-ins and run different versions of themes with same names. http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
We provide support only for free hosted WordPress.COM blogs and not for WordPress.org software installs. If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there and receive advice from WordPress.ORG bloggers.

?? I don’t know anything about wordpress.org. As far as I’m aware I’ve always had a wordpress.com account, all the original emails from when I set up the account are from, and refer to, wordpress.com. Are you saying that I don’t have such an account??

If you are getting this error message:
Invalid URL! You do not own that identity
then read this please http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2013/08/10/crazymaking-blogger-comment-settings/ -
I’m trying to update my website.
This site http://www.natbirchall.com/ is NOT a free hosted WordPress.com blog. It is a WordPress.ORG install hosted by BlueHost. If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there and receive advice from WordPress.ORG bloggers.

Seriously, that is not a WordPress.com blog. That is a wordpress.ORG blog. I just checked the pagesource. We cannot help you with that; you must ask your web host for help.

Fine, I just way to say that .org or .com, whatever, I’ve NEVER had an email from wordpress.org, AWAYS from wordpress.COM. How am I supposed to know that I have anything to do with wordpress.org?????
I have a new laptop and this is the first time I’m trying to log in on it.
This stuff is so confusing, I’ve checked all my emails from wordpress and everything refers to wordpress.com. I’ve only found one instance where .org is mentioned.
Thank you for your help, such as it is.

Well, it’s not OUR fault you’re confused. WordPress.com and WordPress.org are separate systems. You get WordPress.com emails because you are using Jetpack on your WP.org blog, which is a plugin developed by WP.com to bundle a lot of services WP.com has built in, and make it available to WordPress.org bloggers.
WordPress.org doesn’t have a service department as such, so they don’t email people.
