Error Message on WordPress, Hestia theme and sendinblue widget

  • Unknown's avatar

I am not tech-savvy – I’m a 59-year-old author who’s trying to set up their own website with a very steep learning curve! Please help!

I’ve loaded Hestia theme to my WordPress site. I’ve added the sendinblue widget for the subscribe form. However, the form isn’t working properly. I have no idea how to fix it. I know nothing about programming.

I’m getting this error message, and when a subscriber tries to fill in the form, the message flashes up quickly then the form goes weird and re-appears without the box labels. It’s confusing. Here’s the error message:

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in […]/wp-includes/class-wp-list-util.php on line 157

What can I do to fix this? Also, the labels on the website are not as I’d like them. I’d like it to say ‘First Name’ as opposed to ‘FIRSTNAME’

Please advise. I’ve spent days trying to sort it out, google it, searching forums.

    Kind regards
    Bridget

  • Hi Bridget! Your site doesn’t seem to be hosted on our services, but here’s what I would do.

    – Since the problem is with the plugin you’re using, try contacting support for the plugin: https://help.sendinblue.com/hc/en-us

    – Then, for general help with WordPress itself, you’ll want to use these forums:
https://wordpress.org/support/forums/ — these are for the self-managed, free copies of WordPress with other hosting providers. Your host may also provide some WordPress services with their plans.

If you’d like to move your site here instead so we can provide direct WordPress support, you’d be welcome! You can find our pricing here:
    https://wordpress.com/pricing

In this case you’d need Business to have your outside themes and plugins, but we may be able to help you set up the site as you like it here just using a Personal or Premium plan, if you aren’t tied to those particular third party programs.

    Hoping that helps!

Many thanks for this! I’ve contacted Sendinblue about their widget and am awaiting a reply.

I like the theme I have, and I’ve now transferred my entire mailing list to sendinblue (it was formerly with Mailchimp)… So I feel I am somewhat tied to those third parties. I can’t face redoing the website all over again with a new mailing list company and a new theme. It took me 2 weeks over Christmas to upgrade the old site to this one. I have neither the time nor the capital to invest in starting over once again…

Let me clarify – if I take on the premium one, I can’t use Hestia or Sendinblue? What would the alternatives be? How would that work? What would the website look like?

I’m not a small business – I’m just an author about to launch a book. I have two domain names, each hosted by 1&1. One is http://www.bridgetfinklaire.com (the website I’m having the problem with) and the other is http://www.thebonecircle.com which still needs to be developed.

How do I transfer those over from 1&1 to you?
Is there a discount for having two websites?

    I’d really welcome your advice.

    Thanks so much

    Bridget

  • Hello Bridget,

Many thanks for reaching back out.

if I take on the premium one, I can’t use Hestia or Sendinblue?

You wouldn’t be able to use the Sendinblue with the premium plan. You would need to be on the business plan to use the Sendinblue service.

What would the alternatives be? How would that work?

You can use MailChimp on the premium plan and the set up of this can be seen here: https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/mailchimp-block/

We have this migration tool, which you can use yourself: https://wordpress.com/support/moving-from-self-hosted-wordpress-to-wordpress-com/

You may wish to look at our recently launched Do It For Me service, which may be of interest: https://wordpress.com/built-by-wordpress-com/

    I hope this helps.
