Hi there, I don’t see anything particularly wrong on the site you listed.
Would you please quote the error you’re seeing, or use https://snipboard.io/ to share a screenshot of it?
If this was regarding a different site, what is the URL of the site with the problem?

Hi there,
The issue here is that your domain is expired – it expired on 12 January, and was subsequently removed from our system. At that point it would have stopped working, and your site reverted back to the free WordPress.com address instead.
Unfortunately your domain is at a point in the expiration process where it’s no longer possible for us to recover it. But in a few more days it should be released, at which point you’ll be able to register it again as a new domain. (Just keep in mind, so will anyone else, and if someone else registers the domain before you, they will become the new owner.
Let me know if you have any questions about this.

Hi there, thank you for the answer. I would love to know how I can re-obtain the same domain immediately, to get the site back up and running. Would you please send me the date and how to do it. Your help is much appreciated, thank you!

Unfortunately it’s not possible to get your domain back immediately.
When a domain expires it goes through a process that lasts several weeks, and over which we don’t have any direct control.
Currently it’s in the final stage of that process, where the registry is preparing to completely delete the domain and release it for re-registration. A domain is usually in this phase for a few days, but there’s no way to know the exact date the domain entered this phase, nor the exact date the registry will release it.
So the only option at this point is to check a couple times every day whether it has been released yet. To check this, just search for the domain at Upgrades ->Domains ->Add here on WordPress.com, or else at any domain provider. If the domain comes up in the search as Available, it means it has been released.
Your site itself is still working, though, and accessible at the free WordPress.com address, https://katherinecordwell.wordpress.com/. It’s only the domain itself that doesn’t currently connect to the site.

Hello, thank you so much for this. I will continue to check whether the domain becomes available. Is there a recommended hosting site that you would suggest using. I can’t remember what one I went through back in 2012. Thank you
-
If we’re speaking of the site currently at https://katherinecordwell.wordpress.com/, you’ve been hosting that site with us, and you’re still hosting it here. It’s only the domain that expired, not your hosting :)
We do now require a paid plan to use your own domain, but if you upgrade to either our Starter or Pro plan, the registration cost for the domain is included for the first year.
If you feel the features we offer don’t meet your needs anymore, we recommend Pressable and Bluehost for hosting the open source version of WordPress.
