error message when visiting my website

  When i visit my URL – Initally an error message came up saying I needed to update my PHP, so I did that via Siteground (host) and now there is ‘critical error’ message. I can’t access my WP Dashboard and in my account under SITES it has nothing! I’m totally confused and have no idea what to do!
