Error: No Content Showing Up
-
I have 15 public pages that are not able to be viewed (they were published from 2008 onward). When I update a page hoping it would show, it reads that the page cannot be found and when I click the html into a browser, the website isn’t found either. I really need my website up and running. Could you please look into why this is happening? I had my host, hostgator, reset my site, but it did nothing. I think this is happening on wordpress’s side. Please let me know when and how you fix this problem.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’m sorry to hear that you are having trouble. However, hartleymusic.com is a self-hosted WordPress.org blog, which we really can’t help with.
To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities: http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
WordPress.org has complete documentation and support sites for self-hosted/installed versions of WordPress.org at http://codex.wordpress.org/ and http://wordpress.org/support/

Well, that’s strange because I pay an annual fee to WordPress.com and clearly see my account and pages when I log into the dashboard of .com, not .org. Moreover I have never used .org, only .com. Do you think this has something to do with my host using the wrong DNS or something? I wish I could get someone on the phone at WordPress.com because this has dragged on for too long and host gator seems confused too… I don’t have this issue with any other site I’ve created through WordPress.com.
Any ideas why this would be happening?

Hi Aaron!
http://hartleymusic.com/ is a WordPress.org site and hosted with another web host.
http://hartleymusic.wordpress.com/ is your WordPress.com site, however it is currently redirecting to the above site, hence the confusion.
So if you’ve been adding Pages here:
https://hartleymusic.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=page
This will add them to your WordPress.com site, but you won’t be able to see them as you are using domain mapping to redirect it to your self hosted site at http://hartleymusic.com/
To add Pages to your actual site you need to add Pages here:
http://hartleymusic.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=page
Which is a WordPress.org site and completely separate to WordPress.com. Any content on WordPress.com will only appear on WordPress.com and not any self-hosted WordPress.org site.
I suggest the following:
1) On your WordPress.com site, go to Tools > Export and download an XML file of your content:
https://hartleymusic.wordpress.com/wp-admin/export.php
2) On your http://hartleymusic.com/wp-admin/ go to Tools > Import > WordPress and import that XML file. Make sure to select Download and Import File attachments to copy over any images uploaded to those Pages.
3) Finally we can turn off domain mapping if you wish so you can see http://hartleymusic.wordpress.com/ and it is not forwarded to http://hartleymusic.com. Or we can leave it, it’s up to you.
4) You don’t need to be paying WordPress.com for anything on http://hartleymusic.wordpress.com/ if you’re not using it. I see Auto-Renew is not enabled so no further payment for this site will be taken.
Please let me know if you have any further questions!

Thanks, joelwills! Once rootjosh hipped me to the question of why the site was running through .org, I called hostgator and sorted everything out. I turned off auto-renew for .com and am planning on just running from .org for now on through hostgator to save the money since it’s practically the same thing (and will allow me to learn something new). Still not sure why it was linked to .org in the first place since it was allows hooked up to .com, but at least the problem is fixed. Thanks again for the help guys!
