Error on adding big media
-
Frequently I get an error on adding big media files.
The message is:
Error [filename.jpg]
HTTP error. That happens when I choose multiple files. The file size is app. 3-4 mb. The behavior is always the same: The scroll bar runs very quickly nearly to its end. Then it takes a long break on which end the error occurs.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Where?
Are you refering to https://dietuerkischeseidenstrasse.wordpress.com/ or other site? -
That issue happens to all of my three sites. Recently I worked with https://christianschmitt.wordpress.com/.

If it only happens when you try to load multiple large images at the same time, it’s probably a connectivity issue. Are you able to upload the photos if you do them one at a time?

WordPress.COM does not seem to play nice with some browsers, the upload issue has been around for some time with large files. I found that moving to a different browser on a different PC sort of works (same internet connection)
Gave up trying to pin it down enough so the coders could replicate things

I’m having the same trouble with small images. Well, 600px wide, which isn’t huge, anyway. I’ve tried resaving, rebooting, nothing helps. Same error message.

mondoagogo –Are you uploading images directly to your media library or via the editor? If you are getting the error one place, it sometimes helps to try the other method.

I’ve tried both, but I’m still getting errors on every pic I’ve tried. I’ve even tried editing the pics, copy-pasting and saving as *new* images, but that doesn’t work either.

Just thought I’d throw this out there if it helps anyone.. A long time ago now, I had problems such as mentioned (uploading multiple large images)
I found I no longer had the problem (apart from a normal wait time) since I changed all the media settings for the ‘largest size’ in the admin section.. (as they are ‘by default’ not that big) so it’s in Dashboard > Settings > Media
Hope this helps.. (apologies, if you’ve all already done this) Apart from that Liz will surely work it out.

Afreestyler,
I changed the media settings by making the values a bit smaller. The problem did not change. One thing showed up: it seems that the problem appears above a certain total upload size. In the first case i have chosen four files – and for the first time it worked perfectly. In the second case I have chosen five files. There the problem was again.
From now I will choose 3-4 files at maximum. This will work for me.
Thanks a lot for all your support!

Ok: I changed the ‘largest file’ size to up to 2000 I think.. I upload 5 to 10/15 at a time.

I set the value now. It did not change. Nevertheless I know now a workarund.
