Error on saving draft of post

    I keep getting the message ‘Updating failed. An unknown error occurred’, in a pink band at the top of the editor screen. This when I’m drafting a post and click ‘save draft’. It doesn’t happen all the time, but when I get it I usually have to start the post again from scratch. It’s possible that I start getting it after I add an image block and then add an image. Now I seem to be getting it more & more frequently, so it’s getting to the point where I’m not sure I can finish creating any more posts. I’m using WordPress.com with a free plan, and using the Gutenberg block editor, on a mac mini.

    I should have said I was using Chrome. I have now tried editing & saving on Safari and didn’t get the error. So maybe Chrome is the issue?

    Hi –

    Which site are you working on?

    It’s possible that Chrome is the issue. Try disabling the browser extensions. Also, go to https://browsehappy.com/ and see if you need to update it.

    Thanks Liz. I’m working on https://somestronglanguage.wordpress.com/ which is on a free plan.

    I’m on Chrome Version 80.0.3987.149 (Official Build) (64-bit) – which seems to be the latest.

    I’ve now disabled all browser extensions other than ‘IBM Security Rapport’ & ‘McAfee Endpoint Security For Mac Web Control’. Most of the others seemed related to Google docs type apps.

    I’ll see if that works.
