‘Error: please enter email address’ – this error message is stopping me from being able to update my nickname and display name in user settings.
-
When trying to change my nickname and display name in user settings (or edit profile), after clicking ‘Update Profile’ at the bottom of the page, I see an error message at the top of the page asking me to ‘please enter email address’. Each time I do this and still I am met with the same error message.
Please help.

Hi @ashrblog93
Can you confirm you’re editing here?
https://wordpress.com/me/accountWhen I try to edit the username, I don’t get an “Update Profile” — just a warning and a “Save Username” button.
Do note username changes can’t be undone. If that wasn’t the page you were updating, let us know what you were updating by sending its URL. We’ll check it out.

Hi,
Thanks for your help.
I’m not trying to edit my username, only my display name and I’m trying to do it on my wp admin profile on bluehost.
At the moment, my display name is ‘admin’ and i want to change that.
Thanks,

Ok, that would be regarding a self-hosted WordPress.org site, which we really can’t help with here.
To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities: http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
WordPress.org has complete documentation for self-hosted/installed versions of WordPress.org at https://wordpress.org/support/ and support at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
