Error – ‘there has been a critical error’ etc but no email
-
Hello,
The website where I am an admin is down. I am not the primary admin/account creator but have been added and authorized to make changes, as the other users are inactive.the URL jmoepatrol.com is no longer working, and I get the error message about a critical error: ‘There has been a critical error on this website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.’ I have not received and email, and cannot log into the wordpress for the website, because I only get the error message.
This happened after updating plugins- WordPress showed that two plugins were ‘required’ but needed to be activated: Advanced Custom Fields and WR PageBuilder. The site crashed dafter activating them both, perhaps due to a compatibility error.
Please advise.

Hi there!
To avoid any confusion, it’s important to distinguish between three different versions of “WordPress”:
- The free, open-source WordPress software that powers your website.
- WordPress.org, the open-source project where you can obtain the software for free to use on your chosen hosting provider.
- WordPress.com, a managed hosting provider of the WordPress software, which is the platform you are currently contacting.
Since your site is not hosted with us, we’re limited in what we can help with and advise. But I can get you pointed in the right direction to get help.
Pulling up your site, it looks like you have a critical error in your WordPress install. To fix this, reach out to your host’s support for help. They’ll be able to find the plugin or theme that’s causing the error and help you get your site back online. If you’re not sure who is your hosting provider, you can use a website like Hosting Checker to look up that information. https://hostingchecker.com/
I hope that helps!
