Error when adding new site

Hello!
I’m trying to create new site for this account (I already have several, need one more) and I want a free site, not paid one.
When I click button in the Dashboard to Add New Site, firstly, it suggests only paid options for domains and such. When I choose some options to get to the Plans Choice page and click on Select for Free site I am getting the Page with ‘Something went wrong’ etc.
I am no newbie (actually, have 13 mini-sites on this account and couple more on another; all of them – free), and I can create a simple WP free site in my sleep, and still I am getting the error.
Do you have some unannounced limitation on how many sites one account can have? In the Info and FAQ sections I see that one can have unlimited sites to one acc.
Also, why the paid options for everything are so obtrusive? I don’t remember them being so much in my face earlier, but now during new site registration and in Dashoard I see many paid option ads and such.

P.S. Of course I’ve tried several different browsers, but the error persists. Seems, like it’s something technical on your side, no? -

You shouldn’t have any limitations to how many free sites you can set up nor have we changed the process in setting one up.
Can you let us know the URL of the site you’re trying to set up so we can better advise?

How can I give you an URL of a non-existent site?
As I have said, the system gave me the error in the process of creating the free site. I tried just now one more time – nothing changed, I still get the message “Something went wrong…” and, naturally, get the error “The address cannot be registered. Oops! Sorry an error has occurred. …”
I tried several variations of the address I find suitable for me, just in case, and one of them is knopfanfic.wordpress.com , if it helps, but still – the message above persists, I can’t register the site.
I can make screenshots of the process, if it helps, too. -

Hello there,
That’s most odd – can you tell me what browser you’re using along with any browser extensions that may also be in play (Ad blockers for example).
Are you also able to check to see if this happens in an incognito or private browser please?

I’ve tried Opera, Chrome, Mozilla and Vivaldi for now, and if first two are heavy with plugins and such, the others are clear. I’ve tried incognito modes, too, nothing changes :(
Frankly, I was hoping it somehow passes in couple of days by itself, but it seems, I have now only the possible option of creating second account (most inconvenient solution, I must say) and creating the planned site there. Or leave it be for now and hope that in some time it really will pass by itself. -
Hello there,
I suspect that a browser plugin could be playing havoc here, and this is where troubleshooting should start.
I’d start with deactivating ad blockers.
In the meantime, do you have a preferred URL? Perhaps we can help you create this site.

Thanks for suggestion, I will try to do it myself for now, don’t bother. I have several more clean browsers and a round of trials without plugins with already mentioned ones to look forward to.:)

Brief update:
Still can’t register a site.
Tried incognito, tried more browsers (even IE and Edge), tried using mobile network and smartphone, both going to site through two browsers (built-in and Opera Mobile or Mini, don’t remember, which one I have) and doing it in the app, while using mobile network; tried App for PC for Win10. Flushed DNS (as couple of times got an error of “dns probe finished nxdomain”); tried switch back and forth between ethernet and wifi connections I have at home.
Same result: can’t register, the error occurs after I am stubbornly choosing a Free plan instead of persistently suggested paid ones. Unfortunately, I can’t afford any paid option for a simple blog about my writing now, it’d be an unwise investment into a hobby which shouldn’t ask for my monies otherwise.
If you really can set up the site for me it’d be great, I am only wasting time and nerves, it seems.
Preferred URL can be either knopfic, knopstory, or really anything related to stories or writing and with abbreviation KNOP (besides, I have the option of changing it later, if I am not mistaken).

Horray! It worked! Finally! Thank you very much! I am finally able to register it! Wonder, what was wrong, so in future nobody’d got stuck like me.
