error with blogs and domains. please help!!

    i bought a new domain name through one of my wordpress blogs. all was successful apart from the fact that i made a huge error. i should have added a new blog first through ‘register a new blog’ on my dashboard options – then upgraded it as i have done in the past!!! (i had a memory lapse)

    I simply wanted to have a new domain/blog unrelated to my other blogs. And because I mistakingly went through a blog of mine already existing to buy the domain, it is linked to the wrong blog!!!

    Please tell me how to retract the new domain i just bought through the wrong wordpress blog and plonk it in the right blog i have just created. this has to be possible?! otherwise i have just ruined two blogs and their domains and wasted money!!!

    just to clarify all the blogs and domains i’m talking about are all through wordpress.com and that’s where i want them to stay.

    There are two ways you can deal with this.

    1) Do it all yourself and cough up an extra domain mapping fee. I transferred a mapped domain between blogs in this way. Simply remove domain mapping for the current wrong domain in the control panel, go to the control panel for your new domain, buy the domain mapping and register the domain with the new site.

    2) If you have just brought the mapping you could contact support via

    Tell them that you made a mistake, have not used the mapping in the current domain and beg them to move it for free. They are usually pretty good about helping out when people make genuine mistakes.
