escutcheon theme not showing me post format choices
-
I downloaded and installed the escutcheon theme into my WordPress install at Dreamhost.
My install is not showing me the Post formats to choose from. I have tried looking at the Screen Options to check the Formats checkbox but the Formats checkbox is not there.
-
The list of Post formats does show up in the Settings : Writing section of the Dashboard
-
Hi there, Escutcheon doesn’t support port formats, so that’s why it’s not showing in your post editor. All posts will be Standard.
-
The demo site for the theme shows multiple page types as post examples. It does not specifically say this is post type whatever but they are different. Maybe I need to look closer at that demo site.
-
Could you provide a link to the specific posts or pages you’re referring to on the demo so I can take a look?
-
ok so the demo pages dont specifically look like post formats after looking close but how about the Related widget type area at the bottom of this post https://escutcheondemo.wordpress.com/2011/07/07/the-beginning-of-wordpress/
How can I get this? I am not seeing widgets in this area of the post page in my customizer

Related Posts isn’t a widget, but a feature you can get on a self-hosted site by activating the Jetpack plugin‘s Related Posts module.
You can get a lot of WordPress.com features – like Tiled Galleries and Sharing buttons – via Jetpack modules on a self-hosted site.

Some examples I was assuming are post format pages

All those examples are posts with the Standard (default) post format – they just happen to have different types of content on them.
You can get a quote by selecting the text and choosing the “blockquote” formatting button from the post editor.
You can embed a video by adding a link to a YouTube, Vimeo, or other third-party video service that WordPress supports on its own line – it gets embedded automatically.
The gallery example has a large featured image added, and a tiled gallery within the post editor. You can get a tiled gallery via the Jetpack Tiled Galleries module as I mentioned.

sorry one more quick question. The theme does show the post formats option when i look at it using WordPress.com
I may have just been sampling it vs having it activated if that makes a difference

Could you show me a screenshot of where you mean so I can take a look?
Here’s a guide on how to make a screenshot:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/make-a-screenshot/You can upload the screenshot – in a graphic format like JPG, PNG, or PDF – in your Media Library, and provide a link so I can see it, or upload it with a service like Imgur or Snaggy.

ok my bad i was only previewing the theme when i thought it had been activated so the post formats were for whatever theme I actually had activated. Move along nothing to see here :-)
