staff-mckluskey – The social media sharing block only displays about 6 social media buttons to choose from the option which are usually the default.
@ryrhino00 – Perhaps your plan has nothing to do with which services you can add. Thanks to staff-mckluskeyTo add your preferred social media sharing button go to:
Your block editor page → Click on the tiny black box icon with a + sign →
Click on Social icons → Then Click on the tiny black box icon with a + sign grouped with the social icons to display all supported social media platforms.Adding a social sharing button with /social only displays the default options.
Please let us know if this helps.

@fresatonmica
I would like for readers to be able to share my posts and pages to masatdon not to follow me only
Thanks -
@ryrhino00 just to clarify, this block isn’t the same thing as sharing.
https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/social-links-block/That block just adds links to your social profiles, so readers can find you on instagram / twitter / any of the other services we we list.
We don’t have a built in “Share to Masatdon” option at this point, but we will file your request for it.

When I tried to add rss widget I got the following
RSS
An error has occurred; the feed is probably down. Try again later.
This is the link I tried to use and got the error message.
https://feedly.com/i/collection/content/user/02527712-6782-4e98-86d3-5c3e2d66f3f3/category/global.all That is the link when I log into feedly. So I understand correctly if I want to add rss feeds to blog I need to have an account with that rss and link that if I want it to show on my blog is this correct?
Thanks.
-
That’s the link to the item on Feedly, but it’s not a proper RSS URL.
What is the URL of the site that the feed is from?
-
The url I posted is the only ulr I see on feedly when I log in.
Where do I find the url I need?
Thanks.
-
-
It is the feeds I follow on my feedly account when I sign into my feedly account.
feedly.com
-
Ok, that won’t work. The RSS widget only accepts valid RSS feed URLs, which links from Feedly are not.
-
I did read the rss support articles. My question is then what can be used as rss feeds?
What are vaild rss feed urls?
-
Maybe I am not understanding how to use rss feeds with wordpress. I thought that if I used my feedly account on my wordpress blog that it would show others when I have a new post or page.
The feed support article says The reader that you use, however, in entirely your call, and the process of subscribing will be different for each. Click here for a list of feed readers that you can use. feedly is on that list.
Please explain what I am not understanding.
Thanks.

The standard location for an RSS feed on a website is at example.com/feed, though some sites can have the feed somewhere else.
So the main feed for your WordPress.com site, https://brainbombsandchronicpain.wordpress.com/, is at https://brainbombsandchronicpain.wordpress.com/feed. WordPress.com sites also have secondary feeds for tags, categories and authors.

You can use a feed reader to follow other people’s blogs via their RSS feeds.
And other people can use Feedly to follow your blog in the same way, but they’d need to be Feedly users and add your site’s RSS feed to that reader themselves to do that. There’s no way you can push your site to people via Feedly.
The RSS widget is something else completely – the purpose of that widget is if you want to display a completely different site’s RSS feed in the sidebar of your own site.

Hi there, That’s a bit roundabout. Your WPcom website already has a built in feed at
https://brainbombsandchronicpain.wordpress.com/feed/ and that is what people who use feedly or any feed reader would add to their list of feeds. If you want to make it easier for feedly users to subscribe to your site, you could use feedly’s tool at https://feedly.com/factory.html to create an HTML button for your site. Copy the snippet that feedly produces and paste it into a Custom HTML widget.
WPcom also has an RSS widget for new posts and comments as well. You can find the instructions for that here: https://wordpress.com/support/widgets/rss-links-widget/
If you want to display your own posts somewhere else on your site, you can add the RSS Widget https://wordpress.com/support/widgets/rss-widget/ or the RSS Shortcode https://wordpress.com/support/rss-shortcode/ but the feed you enter has to be a properly formatted feed URL. You can check that at https://validator.w3.org/feed/
There’s also the “Latest Posts” block https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/latest-posts-block/ which will display your more recent posts.
Pages are not included in feeds, so if you want to share a new page, announce it in a post.

Hope that helps.

I don’t know what to do with that page or how to use it. Please explain how to use it on my blog.feedly’s tool at https://feedly.com/factory.html I am unable to click on any of the buttons on that page. Maybe the page is outdated. If you know a more current page to use please let me know.
Thanks.

Hello ryrhino00 –
https://brainbombsandchronicpain.wordpress.com/feed/This is an example of link you can embed inside an RSS feed. If you plan to embed an RSS feed from a third-party site it the link should end with /feed on it.
With the above link anyone can add your website RSS feed to their website.
The question is this. Are you trying to embed an RSS feed from a third-party website on your WordPress.com site or you would like to add your own blog RSS feed on your website?
Best,
-
