  I am trying to add shop widgets for etsy and dawanda in my sidebar but they won’t work – all i’m getting is the appearance of the code in text form. Are they now classed as plugins? They worked on my old WordPress blog…

  It’s JavaScript which we cannot use for security reasons. http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/#javascript There is no upgrade that will allow you to post JavaScript, iframes, forms or other restricted codes. To use that widget you would have to hire a web host and set up your own WordPress.org install.
