Etsy widget?

    Where do I find the Etsy widget? A friend of mine said she uses the “customizable Etsy widget” to show the items in her Etsy shop on her wordpress blog. I’d like to do the same but I can’t find it under your listing of widgets.

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    WordPress.com does not have an etsy widget. Could your friend be using a plugin on a self hosted WordPress site?

    What many WordPress.com users have done is simply take a screenshot of their Etsy shop or favorites and added it to their sidebar in a text widget.

    I myself am pushing for some sort of etsy widget to be created for WordPress.com as I know it would be very popular here. To that end, I would encourage you to make a post suggesting it on our ideas/suggestions area of the WordPress.com support forums.

    thanks for getting back to me so soon! You’ll have to excuse my computer ignorance but… here’s a link to her blog. http://www.needleheadcrafts.com/ Does it look like she’s done what you suggested, “take a screenshot of their Etsy shop or favorites and added it to their sidebar in a text widget”
    She did specifically mention a “customizable etsy widget”

    Your friend has a self-hosted WordPress site, and while I can’t tell what widget they are using, it is definitely something that would not work on WordPress.com as it uses javascript, which we cannot use for security reasons.

    To use that widget you would have to hire a web host and set up your own WordPress.org install. However, what I recommend is to simply take a screenshot of your Etsy shop or favorites and add it to the sidebars in an image widget, with a link back to your Etsy page.
