    Hello,

I have the same issue and I think we found the origin of the bug, see : https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/capture-consent-hide-the-banner-issues/#post-3114738

I have the same issue. I have tested on Firefox and Chrome and Opera – granted, they have some “privacy” features installed like Privacy Badger from EFF. So I tested on a generic clean copy of Microsoft Edge. Same behavior.

While it is annoying – incredibly annoying – on a Windows machine, I am also seeing the behavior on Firefox for Android. On my phone the banner is large enough to be taking up way too much of the available screen.

I understand that you had to do some things to comply with EU’s new law. But the damn thing just doesn’t work correctly

Please note that I do not have the widget customized. I have the default widget in place. I had the widget customized, but that ability has been removed from folks like me who are not paying. And since it isn’t working even for those who are, I am not in a hurry to increase my monthly expenses.

@zendodeb Just disable the widget offered by Jetpack and the issue should be fixed.

There is a banner implemented by default (even if the widget is not activated) on all wordpress.com website. This banner and the one from the widget are in conflict, see: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/cookies-banner-issue-on-the-button-2-theme/#post-3114766

OK Thank you for helping me get this straightened out.

Now – a message for designers/programmers of WordPress.

OK I get it. GRDP came into effect and you had to take action. BUT…

    1. Something that worked last month (last week?) stopped working this month. It wasn’t a wild customization. I activated an approved widget from YOUR list of approved widgets, and life was good.

    2. You made changes WITHOUT BOTHERING to notify ANYONE (like the users of your software) of what the impact of those changes were. OR maybe you didn’t test that particular test case (Do you have a dedicated software-quality-control group?)

This is not the first time that things have changed – basic behavior of the system – with NO heads-up/warning/smoke-signal or whatever to the effected people.

It really REALLY needs to change.
