Even WP Techs couldn’t fix Domain Problem – WHY?

After being told on this forum in December that someone (a volunteer tech)was working on my problem – and then gave up – I thought I might try again.
    Here it is:

I opened my account by purchasing both my domain name AND domain mapping from WordPress. When it came time for renewal, WordPress applied my (due to WordPress mistake, not mine) 20 credits to 2 years of mapping, leaving me with NO domain name renewal. There was no way to get WordPress to do my domain renewal – several WordPress techs tried and were baffled with no answers.

So now I’m thinking I’ll try again today.
This is the problem: The “Domains” tab under “Upgrade” says:
“The following link will take you to an external site where you already have an account. Before you can log in you must reset the password. Copy the number and follow the link below.

To reset your password, click “Retrieve my password” then “Reset Password” and enter your customer number. Then check your email.

    Customer Number: 11253899

    Manage Your Domains”

    BUT GUESS WHAT?
When you follow the directions, “Retrieve my password” takes you – THE SAME PAGE!

Where ids the page for “Reset Password”?

What is it with WordPress?! I want what I paid for!

Oh dear. I can understand your frustrations…

  • pebrent: sorry about this. The domain management web site isn’t run by WordPress.com, it’s a domain registrar that we are a customer of. We’re aware of problems with their password reset page and are trying to pressure them to fix it.

If we had any way to work around the problem we would. Unfortunately we’re stuck waiting for them to fix the bug.

  • Regarding the “volunteer tech”: volunteers on the forum can’t help with account or domain issues. Have you contacted support?

I just checked our support database and can’t find any tickets from your email address. I’m not sure if that’s because you used a different email address, or if you haven’t raised a support ticket at all. If you contact us ASAP we’ll do what we can to help.

Having exactly the same problem as described above, except that it is for a new registration. No way to get a password, no way to manage domains. WP support closed until I am at work tomorrow with no email access option.

Wish I had known this was a problem — would have registered the domain somewhere else first.
