Event Planning / Calendar Software That Integrates With WordPress?

  I have a wordpress.COM blog for a nonprofit community group.

  The group would like a web based way of listing events by date and time and having people sign up for those events.

  I see that there are wordpress.ORG plugins for that, but I know that wordpress.COM doesn’t support plugins.

  Can anyone suggest the next best solution?

  I am not familiar with the public Google Calendars. Is it possible for someone from the general public, without an invitation to an event, to save the event into their calendar and to have the event organizers to know that person is coming?

  I really need a signup system
