{event_calendar} tag?

  I’m trying to work with this plugin : http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-calendar/faq/

  And the author says “The easiest way is to use the widgets. If you want to use a graphical calendar you have to use the tag {event_calendar}”. What does that mean. Like literally what do I type and where do I type it?

  When people refer to tags I’m used to it meaning something like the_title() or the tags in post. I have no idea how to programmatically convert {event_calendar} to a calendar.

  Any help?

  I’ve tried interpreting it as PHP “event_calendar()”, as a shortcode “[event_calendar]”. And adding the “s” to it because he may have messed up, (i.e. events_calendar() or [events_calendar]).

  The full calendar site has some jquery creating the calendar, but how is he suggesting that the javascript grab the records from the database.

  I’ve been diving into WordPress for about a month now, after of 8 years of PHP programming, and I’ve been able to generally look up everything. This has me stumped.

  I have no idea what he’s even IMPLYING that I do with a “{event_calendar} tag”.

  Any insight would be appreciated!

  I’ve asked there as well.

  Can I ask why these answers wouldn’t apply? I’m very curious to gain any amount of knowledge about this issue. Is there a method of making {event_calendar} a function that only works on self hosted sites?

  I probably won’t even end up using this calendar, but I’d rather find some level understanding.
