Eventbrite calendar widget not showing in mobile phone view of website.
-
I have a WordPress website for a tour, dramble-tours.com and the embedded Eventbrite calendar widget has just stopped showing in the mobile phone view. It still works on a computer view. I have contacted Eventbrite who have informed me that it is a WordPress issue and have emailed me with the code for the correct HTML for the calendar widget. I have no idea what this means, or why it has suddenly stopped working. Below is the code they sent to me. Can anyone please advise?
Many thanks

hi,
dramble-tours.com does not look like it is hosted on WordPress.com.
We’re able to help only with websites hosted on WordPress.com.To clear up any confusion, there are 2 versions of WordPress. WordPress.com is a managed environment different from using the open source WordPress installation. WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two, different entities.
You might check in with your host to see if there’s an error log you could look at for more information. Or, you could look in this forum; perhaps someone there has experienced something similar:
https://wordpress.org/support/You’ll need a free WordPress.org account to post – if you don’t already have one, you can register here:

Hope this helps

Hi drambletours,
I had a look at your site on my mobile and the calendar is displaying perfectly. Have you tried restarting the browser application on your mobile and having another look?
Hope this helps :)

Hi catkiinson
Thanks for getting back to me.
I have tried it on both my wife’s and my phones and on several phones belonging to colleagues. The calendar only showed on one of the phones which had a much bigger screen than the others. My screen is only 10cm long. Is your phone screen bigger than that?
Cheers

I just have a regular iPhone and this is the view: https://snag.gy/vM1D0i.jpg
I’ll add a modlook tag to this thread so a Staff member can help you.

Hi there,
Can you please confirm what site you need help with?
The domain, dramble-tours.com, is not hosted with WordPress.com, and not connected to any WordPress.com site.
That domain does appear to be redirecting to http://drambletours.wordpress.com, but that’s not the same as it being hosted somewhere at all.
If you are in fact asking about the site at https://drambletours.wordpress.com, the Eventbrite widget is working fine for me on mobile, specifically Chrome on Android. Screen size of the device should have no effect on whether or not the widget is visible – that might affect if it resizes correctly, but I used an emulator to check your site at different mobile screen sizes and don’t see any issues at all.
On which phones is it not working for you? I specifically also need the OS and browser of each device, please.

Hi – I took this screenshot earlier today – https://snag.gy/0CwsxK.jpg – as you can see the widget hasn’t loaded completely with data. This was on Windows 10 using Chrome (both latest public versions). Also, on Android 8.1 using Chrome https://snag.gy/qhQ9jc.jpg
However it does seem to work half the time – maybe depends on time of day? The problem could the widget – or its data connection to the eventbrite data – or the eventbrite data feed itself? Something not right – but we haven’t changed anything.
It’s worked fairly well for a few years, but now this. Is it still maintained by Automattic?

I’ve just run it through browsershots.org and can see it loads ok most times, but not all – http://browsershots.org/https://drambletours.wordpress.com/

Thanks, so it’s definitely showing events sometimes and not others.
You mentioned this just stopped showing in mobile.
– I’m assuming it worked before?
– Is it always missing in mobile now, or is it kinda spotty?
– Just in case there’s a date / change we can use for a clue, were you checking it regularly before and the issues just started? If you can tell me when you’re positive it was working consistently, that will help.
For what it’s worth, considering our code certainly wouldn’t have changed between the different browsershots, and assuming it’s not consistently bad on certain browsers, the intermittency suggests it’s a connection or server issue. We can keep looking into it with more info.
And a quick note re: your domain, your redirect took about 5 seconds here before I was redirected to the site (and that’s on my fast Google Fiber connection.) If you get the personal plan, domain mapping should help your site load much faster, will knock out our advertisements, and will get you direct support, too.

Great, thank you. So it worked on the 14th of May for sure, then just started on the 15th, or did you happen to notice whether it started earlier?
-
Hi Supernovia,
As far as I can remember I last checked my availability on the widget on my phone on the 11th or 12th May. It worked fine then, but stopped working on the 14th late in the evening. I first contacted Eventbrite who passed me on to WordPress. I contacted you as soon as I could on the 15th. It has been intermittent on my own phone, but not worked at all on my colleagues phones. I have just (10 mins ago), upgraded to a Personal Plan and it seems to be working on all phones now. I’ll keep monitoring it.
