Eventbrite Multi Theme showing duplicates of events
-
Each event is listed on the calendar and events list twice. What has gone wrong?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

It looks like you’ve removed the events from your site (probably because they were appearing twice). Could you add an event back to the page so I can help you troubleshoot?
If you haven’t already done so, you might also check out this support document for the Eventbrite multi-event theme. It might help you figure out what went wrong as well.

you might also want to remove the “duplicate” tag from the tag list. It makes sense to have added it based on your question, but we use it to mark posts where the user asked the same question twice. So, it could make volunteers and/or staff inadvertently skip your question.

Thankyou, I have taken the pages of my menu bar, but they still exist as follows:
It appears there is a problem with the feed from Eventbrite because I am getting similar problems with mailchimp.

It does seem to be a problem on the Eventbrite side, so you might find their support people are better able to help you.
Here’s some information that might help:
The problem seems to be related to the fact that you offer the same basic event multiple times. For some reason WordPress is pulling in the same event, but in two different ways.
The first event link connects to this event page:
https://www.eventbrite.com/e/taichi-for-fitness-and-wellbeing-tickets-13670461719?ref=wpevent
The second to this one:
https://www.eventbrite.com/e/taichi-for-fitness-and-wellbeing-tickets-13673354371?ref=wpevent
You see that the event numbers are different. You’ll also note that dropdown menu on the first event says “select a date” while the second one has the “October 14th” date pre-selected.
Hope that helps!

We are definitely having the same problem so if you get a solution from Eventbrite, please post. Thanks!

I know that the problem stems from having an event that occurs multiple times. So, the calendar is listing the overall event (Thurs-Sun, for example) but then it’s also listing for each individual day(Thurs, Fri, Sat and Sun).

My guess is the solution will be on the Eventbrite side, but just incase there is something that could be tweaked on the WordPress.com side, I’ll also tag this thread for staff assistance.

Thanks that explains what is going on with the duplicate events. There is another issue – if you look at the calendar you will see that events are listed every day which should be repeating once a week. Can you see what is causing this?

Hi Alexander,
It looks like the issue on the calendar is related to the other one you mentioned — the calendar shows the event title plus “cont.” to mark a continued (repeating) event. I’ve reported this to our developers to see if we can control how that appears on your calendar, so only the actual events are displayed there.

thanks I hope they will be able to do something.
I wondered if it would be worth me trying to get eventbrite to tackle it as well. If i had a clear conception of exactly what is going on in the feed that causes the error maybe i could get them to fix it?
I have a general sense of what is going on, but not in enough detail to be able to explain to them exactly what the problem is.
Thanks,

Hi Alexander,
From what I can see, the issue is with the very first event. On your calendar page, the first event happens on October 14. However, that’s linked to the event on your Eventbrite page with the full range of dates for the event:
https://www.eventbrite.com/e/taichi-for-fitness-and-wellbeing-tickets-13670461719
It looks like the calendar is displaying a continuous event starting on October 14 and ending on December 16, instead of just showing each event separately. I’ve asked our team to find out if that’s something we can control and change directly on our end, and we’ll let you know what we find out about that.

I just want to let you know that we’re in touch with Eventbrite to get this sorted out. There’s no need to contact them about this separately for now. :)

thankyou. I’ll leave it in your hands. I look forward to hearing from you about solutions.

Hello,
Just looping back to let you know this has been resolved, repeating events work as expected now. Sorry for the hassle!
Thanks,
