Eventbrite Single Theme – media won't center

This is driving me insane but all the images in my posts are supposed to be centered. The theme insists on either 1) turning them all left-aligned or 2) refusing to listen to the fact that it’s supposed to be centered.

It did this once before but I was able to fix the images by going into the post to edit the HTML and make the image center-aligned. But now nothing is working and when I edit the post it comes up as showing the images to already be centered when they’re clearly not.

Is this a problem with the theme itself?

The “img class” value on most of your images on the front page which are displaying aligned left is “aligncenter” (one is ” aligncenter”), while the one example I found I on your front page which is properly centered has an img class value of “align center.” Strangely, “aligncenter” seems to be the correct value, though it gives incorrect results on your site. In a test on my site I found that the “aligncenter” img class value properly centers images, while “align center” aligns images to the left, the very opposite of the observed effect on your front page.

I don’t have an explanation, though perhaps another, as yet undetected, HTML error somewhere on the front page might be responsible.

Hmm, I tested the “align center” on a separate post and it worked. From previous experience though (when I first noticed this issue and changed everything to “aligncenter”) my media would become centered but after a week or so they went back to being left-aligned (my current situation).

It looks like I’ll need to wait to see if this fixes it since, like you said, the only image that is properly centered is “align center”.

I don’t suppose there’s any way of checking to see if there’s a HTML error on the front page is there? Or would I need to use custom CSS for that?

No. You just need to remove or modify the errors that you find.
See the HTML Troubleshooting support page for some tips regarding what to look for.

You may add a “modlook” tag to this thread in the side bar here to call for staff attention. I haven’t run a test using the Eventbrite theme, but the fact that when using “aligncenter,” vs. “align center” you’re producing results opposite to what (I think) should be expected for any WordPress.com theme suggests that it may be a bug in that theme.

I gave the name of the theme incorrectly. Apparently it’s “Eventbrite Single Event,” aka “Eventbrite Single.”

  • The centering issue should be fixed – could you please give it another try and confirm on your end?

Yes, it’s completely fixed! Thank you so much.

  • Glad to hear it, thanks for confirming!
