Everything shifting left
-
Okay, so i do a copy and past from one page to another. Used to be it would be an exact copy, with text color and all. Now it pastes all gray, and shifts to the left and I need to recenter it – but it also moves half of the other items left as well, ans all need to reset on center. What gives??

And you are talking about pasting from one wordpress page to another correct? Not from something like MS Word, correct?
-
Right, WP visual to WP visual.
Not only does the page I paste to shift left, but also the page I copied from. Some goes left, some not. Done it a million times and never had this happen.

Don’t paste visual to visual. WordPress now automatically strips out any code when you paste into the visual editor. The reason they did this is because people were pasting from MS Word and other programs, and also directly from web pages and it was bringing in junk code that was royally screwing up a lot of blogs and in some cases screwing up wordpress itself.
Paste from the HTML tab to the HTML tab and you should be fine.

The problem with that it I often only copy and past parts, and finding the start and stop points of code is impossible.
I think it will be easier for me to just rewrite the part. Darn, I really use tjhat copy and paste a lot.

Ok, it’s worse than I thought. Now when I add new information, large amounts of the info moves left. How ca we fix this?
This page, I just added one photo and a bit of text, and see how it shifted left. Everything was on center.

You CAN’T copy and paste from the Visual tab. It won’t work. WordPress will strip the code out and this will be the result.

I have copied from visual for eons. The most resent issue was just me adding a photo and three words, and everything went crazy. Something else must be going on here.
This has never happened before. I have done copy and past from the page as any visitor would see it, and from the visual update window, and never had an issue.
Now I can even add a word without the shifting.

WordPress strips ALL code from copy and paste when you copy and paste to the visual editor. Example:
This is from a post on my test blog and is what is in the HTML tab when I look at it:
<p style="text-align:center;"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-42" title="winter" src="http://medicinewheel.files.wordpress.com/2008/09/winter.jpg" alt="winter" width="400" /></p> <p style="text-align:center;">This is some text to go with the image on the p2 theme.</p>I went to the visual tab, copied and pasted all the content of the above post into a new post and this is what was in the new post after I pasted when I looked at the HTML tab:
<img title="winter" src="http://medicinewheel.files.wordpress.com/2008/09/winter.jpg" alt="winter" width="400" /> This is some text to go with the image on the p2 theme.Again, I don’t know how else to say this any better than I already have above in another post:

That part I understand, and thank you for the time explaining it to me. Ther problem now is when I do a routine update, adding a photo or text, it does the same thing. I am working in visual in the update window, no copy and paste – just straight up updating – the link I below shows what happened.

I did no copy and paste in this page.

When you insert an image, make sure and verify the alignment setting when inserting an image and if necessary select the alignment you want (none, left, center or right) before you click “insert into post.”
-
Always do. I set my pages up on center. This page was all centered until I added another photo – selected center – and hit update. A number of the photos and text shifted left, and this is happening since the change in not being able to copy and paste. Is this because many of these are already copied and pasted since some time ago – and maybe the code is messed up?
If so, that means I need to redo all these pages??
-
If it is changing settings for other images in the same post when you edit a single image, then contact staff. It should not do that. The changes should only apply to the image you are editing or inserting.

I’ve just done some testing, and all my alignments set in my test blog are holding when I edit an image, but what I did find is that if I’ve put an image in and then go back in and edit anything under the advanced tab, the image size will change to the original image size number rather than the size I had inserted it at.
I’ve reported the above to staff as well.
