Example of what the Ads will look like
-
I recently finished a post and this little window popped up that said there may be an ad placed here on my site visible to some readers. Though I admit I’m not thrilled by the idea of ads, (they seem to be overwhelming the internet these days) I do understand that I am being provided a service and you all need to do something to ‘keep the lights on’ so to speak and of course I am given the option of going ad free for a price. I’m not a hardcore blogger, so I can’t decide if the ad-free option is worth it. It would be helpful to actually see what a site with ads looks like. And I’m not quite sure who will actually fall pray to the ads. I understand some of my readers will not? Can someone please explain that?
Thanks!

Ads have been around on WordPress.com for several years, but we added the window to improve transparency for our users. In other words, we haven’t actually changed anything about having the ads, we just are hoping to inform you better about them.
The easiest thing to do to see ads “in the wild” would be to log out of WordPress.com (users logged in to WordPress.com do not see ads) and then visit random sites via http://discover.wordpress.com/ to see if you can find one with an ad.
Randomly, I just found one here: http://bozthx.wordpress.com/2013/09/12/walkie-talkie-tower-london/
