Excerps and '…Continue reading' links

  Hi, I’m a new blogger :) I don’t know anything technical.
  My blog page (https://mosiecat.wordpress.com/blog) shows a few recent posts with little excerpts. When I let the website do its default, there’s a ‘…Continue reading’ link after each. However, when I compose my own excerpt, the link disappears. How can I get the ‘…Continue reading’ back and make it so that it shows up after every post? Also, how do I use the ‘Read More tag’?

  Hi, I figured out how to make the “Continue reading…” appear on every title after 54 words by deleting my excerpts and inserting read more tags. That should be good enough for now.

  This article shows an alternative to the “read more” but the presentation of the excerpt is more theme dependent I believe.
