excerpt – 2015 Theme

I have text in the excerpt, but the homepage continues to show the entire post. How do I fix this?
Thanks….

I do not see full posts on your home page at http://gainesvilleobserved.com/
I see only excerpts followed by Continue Reading → links. -
If you are referring to another blog wearing Twenty Fifteen please provide the URL for it.
-
Twenty Fifteen displays full posts on the blog page, whether or not you have added text to the excerpt field in the post editor.
If you’d like to display only part of your post on the blog page with Twenty Fifteen, you’ll need to use the More tag:
-
Using the more tag forces you to do that in every single post you make (which is inefficient). The optimal way would be edit the theme to just make the homepage use the_excerpt instead of the_content in the 2015 theme. Please explain how to do that.

This sort of code tweak isn’t possible on WordPress.com, but if you’re interested in setting up a self-hosted WordPress site, you could create a child theme to accomplish that. For specific help in making that change, check out this tutorial I found, or post in the Twenty Fifteen forum over at WordPress.org:

You’ll need a free WordPress.org account to post – if you don’t already have one, you can register here:
