  I think I have an older book on wordpress, that mentions having excerpts on your page. Is this still possible I can’t seem to find where to go to add them. This book I have said they are below the post text box.

  The theme you use iNove does not have an active excerpt function. Some themes do have active excerpt boxes and this is a list of them here > http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/03/25/the-excerpt-function/

  That being said if you only want to display beginnings of posts on your front page then you can split the text by inserting the more tag into them.

  Not all themes support excerpts, and not all themes support excerpts on all post related pages.

  You can use the read more tag, which works on all themes here and put the break in manually for each post.
