i have 197 posts Simply put I need help so that when you go to my site you dont see all 197 posts in their entirety right there. I would like maybe the 1 latest post, summaries of the next 10 and then links by date of all the rest

I don’t see any site linked to this account. It would be helpful if you provide the site URL.
Based on my understanding, I believe you wish to display entire latest post, summaries of next 10 posts and archive rest of the posts.
I will try to help you with this. My solution is based on the assumption that your site is hosted with WordPress.com.1. Your latest post will always show up first so you don’t have to do anything for that.
2. To display summaries of next 10 posts, edit the post and add summary text in Excerpt section under Post Settings > More Options.
3. I don’t see a way to get archives listed below the latest posts. However, you can create another page for archives. Use [archives] shortcode along with the parameters and get archives of posts you wish. Refer the document link below:
