Excerpts – can I stop them!?

  Hi,

  I have recently tried to do a google search on one of my popular Search Engine Terms and when I found my blog and clicked on the link (from google), only an excerpt came up.

  I have not set the site to show excerpts only – I would prefer it if the searcher did not have to click on the post title to see the whole post after they have come through google.com already. I have checked the ‘add post’ page and got the screen options to show excerpt below my post (pre-posting and in editing mode), but I cannot see where it is ticked or whether I can stop this option. I am using the Comet Theme, if this is relevant…

  The blog linked to your username is wearing the Twenty Eleven theme, not the Comet theme. If you want help with the blog wearing Comet then you must post an active link starting with http:// to the blog in question.

  All issues with search engines are between the blogger and the search engine. Google and all other search engines only display excerpts in search results and there is no way you can alter what they choose to display.

  As sometimes bloggers are confused, I want to mention that setting your RSS feeds on the page > Settings > Reading to “summary” does not change the display of posts on the front page of your blog from full entries to excerpts.

  Also please the Google link into your site – if you enter your site on a Category page then you probably see short versions

  Thanks everyone – sorry about getting the wrong site, I’m so sure that I had picked the right blog when I started the topic! My blog is; http://blondegirlbeauty.com it has the Comet Theme,

  The link which takes me from google to the blog is:
  http://blondegirlbeauty.com/tag/mac-winterized/

  I can understand that the link shown on the search engine is an excerpt, but not when they send the viewer through to the site? As you can see it is linking on a tag – can I get these to show more than an excerpt?

  With Comet, you can show a custom excerpts on categories (tags) and archives. You can write a custom summary of your post, including pictures (but no embedded items such as video, links, or audio, etc.). Or you can paste the whole content of your post into the custom excerpt (sans embeds).
