Excerpts. Please help.

  I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. But can someone please explain the following directions to me like I am a 2 year old. Thanks.

  When using the excerpt feature WordPress does not automatically provide a link to a page containing the full post. To generate a link include the following code in the loop directly below <?php the_excerpt(); ?>

  If you are reading about changes in the loop and php stuff you are reading about users of the wordpress.org version of the software. Here on wordpress.com, we don’t have to and cannot work with the coding at that level.

  On wordpress.com, not all themes support excerpts, but this support document will probably help you.http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/excerpts/

  Thank you so much for responding to me. I really appreciate that help. It’s all Latin to me, and I am going to follow your links and see if that helps. If not, I will just have to dredge along I guess. Thanks again. :)
