Excerpts vs. View More- Help!
-
Hey guys!
I’m not too familiar with web design in PHP, and I need some help with my blog. Basically, I got a theme off of here and I’ve been doing my own little tweaks . My blog (which is located at http://diaryofafreakinrican.com/ ) has a sidebar on the right, and from that sidebar you can choose to view posts sorted by a certain month (as in, from the archives), under a certain category, or with a certain tag. My issue is that, say you go to my site and decide to look at the posts tagged with “psychology.” I want it to show the “full post” in the results rather than the “excerpt” (which is either the first x amount of characters by default or my manual excerpt).
I had the same issue with search results. Basically, the search result file (search.php) had a line that said something like…
<?php the_excerpt; ?>
and I changed it to…
<?php the_content(__(‘(more…)’,’mt-dark’)); ?>
in order for it to give the “full post” (which is not the full post, technically – I split the first paragraph or so from the rest of the blog post using the “<!–more–>” feature) in the search results, rather than the excerpt.… does all of that make sense?
Thank you!!
