Excessive spam

  I’m overrun with spam on my site. They appear faster than I can permanently delete them, taking me fully away from what my blog is about. Can you allow for an automatic trash emptying tab after a certain amount of nonsense? This is getting beyond ridiculous!

  If that spam is in your Spam box, you mustn’t delete it. It means the system has done its job perfect. Whenever you find spam in your Inbox, don’t delete it but mark it as spam so the system can learn.

  Just adding here that spam (and trash) is automatically deleted after 30 days. You don’t need to empty it manually.

  Also, if you find that most spam comments are being submitted on older posts, you have the option of closing commenting after a certain time. You’ll find that setting in your Discussion settings https://wordpress.com/settings/discussion/ under Comments.
